I'll overwhelm 'legitimate boxer' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight round contest which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.

Former twice world boxing king Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami arena on December 19th.

Fighter's Mentality

"I will damage his features and break his body up. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I intend to seriously aim to hurt him. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

Despite these statements, a calm Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually known for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather criticized ex Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian turned down a fight offer.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer said.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Jake Paul's History

Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or faded names since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by Briton Fury in last year.

Financial Success

Still, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of the sport's largest commercial attractions, regularly earning huge paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in round four or five and stated he would derail the long-awaited match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul said.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul engaged in the traditional face-off, with their height and weight contrast evident, it emphasized just how improbable this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the match is actually happening.
